  • How do I register with Meridian Consultancy? Is there any registration fee?
    You can either register online through website by giving your name, phone number and the email id or you can simply walk to our office in your area. We have absolutely no registration fee.

   
  • What is IELTS? Do I need to write it?
    The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an entrance exam designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work in the UK. It is advised that every candidate take the IELTS exam to provide proof of his or her English proficiency.

  • When does a course generally commence?
    Generally, in most universities and colleges in the UK, there are two intakes-September and Jan/Feb. However there are a few colleges that have intakes every three months.

  • Can I study prt-time?
    No.  Students from India are ‘visa nationals’ and need a student visa to study in the UK.  To get a visa/entry clearance into the UK as a student, you need to be enrolled on a full time course.

  • Do I get to stay back in the UK after my studies?
    There are schemes available to enable international students to remain in the UK to work on completion of the course. In the IGS (International Graduates Scheme) students who successfully complete their studies are allowed to work in the UK for up to one year.

  • Can I Work while studying?
    Yes, you are allowed to work up to 20 hours a week during your term and full time during holidays. Once you have completed the course you are eligible to take up a full time job. It is very common for students to take up part time jobs.  But your first priority should always be studies.

  • Where will I be accommodated and how much would I have to pay?
    You can opt for ‘on campus’ accommodation which includes the Halls of Residence or University owned flat/houses. The other option available is the  ‘off campus’ accommodation where you can share a flat/house with friends or rent a room in a family (paying guest).
    Depending on the type of accommodation you choose, you can be charged anything between £ 60 - £ 150 a week.

  • How do I apply for a bank loan?
    When the University/ College sends the offer letter to the candidate, it can be presented to the bank for applying an educational loan.

  • When should I pay my fees and how much? Can I pay in installments?
    Once you receive the offer letter you are expected to pay the course deposit at the earliest. Normally you would be asked to pay half the course fee as deposit. Yes, you can pay the fee in installments as per the rules & regulations of the institution.

  • Who can sponsor me?
    Your parents or anybody who is your blood relation can sponsor you. However other people like friends or distant relatives can sponsor provided a strong reason as to why they are doing so is produced.

  • What will be my living expense in the UK?
    On an average it would come up to £ 7500 / calendar year.

  • What assistance do I get after my VISA is approved?
     After the VISA is approved we guide you with a pre departure briefing, which includes guidance for the air tickets, airport pick-ups, traveler’s cheque, things to carry along etc.

  • How much time does the VISA processing take?
    Student visa applications take around 10 days to process.
  • Would you do the filing of VISA on my behalf?
    As the biometric system has been introduced which requires the candidate to submit biometric data in support of the application, you will have to go and file it personally. Applicants will need to have a ten-finger digital scan, which will be taken with a photograph at collection points in all U.K. visa application centers.

  • I have received my student VISA, when should I travel?
    It is advised that the student reach the destination at least a day before the orientation in the University regardless of how early the visa was issued.
